It is a very calm fish that can be kept individually, although it is recommended to keep in small groups. It is suitable for community aquariums, but not especially recommended due to its somewhat delicate nature. In any case it can be kept together with small characins that will not compete with it for food. Territorial with specific species of similar appearance -particularly between males-, but even so its small size allows to keep several specimens together in the same urn.
