ORIGIN 
It lives in the Amazon basin, its distribution area is very wide: Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, Brazil and in its southernmost location, it inhabits the San Martín River, in the vicinity of the city of Bella Vista in Bolivia. Also in the Orinoco river basin, in the upper Orinoco tributary and swamp system and in the Negro river.
CHARACTERISTICS 

Color: It is brown or olive green in color and from reddish to gold, some specimens have 8 or 9 vertical bands with may or less visibility depending on the mood of the animal. There is also the white albino variety, which when it reaches the adult stage turns orange. Size: 22 cm

SEXUAL DIFORMISM.
In general, males have a coloration of greater intensity than females, with a reddish hue on the head. In addition, its size and that of its fins are larger.
